PROGRAM FAQs

LM’s REAL (Racial Equity Action Leadership) Inclusion Program examines the systemic beliefs, practices, and policies perpetuating racial inequities and analyzes strategies to improve our organizations’ systems.

In this eight-month program, participants will engage in a unique and structured dialogue process that begins with understanding the historical roots of racism and ends with creating an action plan to operationalize equity within their organizations. Participants will develop their action plan as they explore the history and implications of systemic racism, examine their own experiences and identities, and investigate race and power in the workplace. Participants will also develop a mission, vision, and actions to create and evaluate organizational equity strategies.

This program is for multiple organizations within or across sectors identifying racial equity as a strategic priority. Organizational teams of 2-5 members that include staff from various levels (i.e. executive leadership, middle management & staff) are strongly recommended. Please reach out to yesenia.regalado@leadermont.org if you are interested in participating as an individual.

Upon completion of this course, participants and their organizations will be able to:

  • Build relationships and empathy across race, culture, and power divides
  • Communicate how the historical roots of racism contribute to current-day racial inequities, both in the community and within organizations
  • Normalize conversations around race to advance organizational goals through an equity lens
  • Analyze decisions, practices, and policies that are barriers to equitable outcomes
  •  Incorporate personal practices to sustain an enduring commitment to racial equity
  • Articulate a vision for equity and create strategic messages to articulate the organization’s equity values and goals
  •  Develop a racial equity action plan
  • Identify methods to evaluate success
